The Restaurant Repository | Prezzo

Yesterday, Jerome and I were invited down to Manchester to visit the new Peroni pop-up bar at their Media City restaurant. We'd never visited Media City before, so we were unsure of what to expect. We arrived in Piccadilly and hopped on the tram; it took around 20 minutes to reach the destination - the tram ride was scenic and pleasant, most importantly, cheap! As soon as we stepped off the tram, we were amazed by the views; the weather was also beautiful, which helped. It then became apparent to us why it was called Media City, within feet were the BBC Manchester and ITV studios.

If you follow me on socials, you'll already know how much I love Italian food and beers. Ever since Jerome and visited Venice, I've been urging to go back for a taste of Italy. When Prezzo invited us to try out their summer menu al fresco and some Peroni-infused cocktails, I was in my element.

Inspired by traditional Italian gatherings, Prezzo hopes to bring the feeling of la dolce vita to Manchester throughout June and July with the Peroni Nastro Azzurro bar. The evening started off with a Peroni mixology masterclass - this was my first time making *proper* cocktails, but I definitely managed to pull it off and the end result was delicious! Our master mixologist also spoke to us about the history of Peroni: the brand was founded by Francesco Peroni in 1846 in the small northern town of Vigevano (Milan). Recipe cards below.

After the masterclass, we tasted some dishes from the summer set menu. My personal favourites were the bruschetta (without mozzarella) and the classic veggie pizza. Prezzo also offers up burgers, pasta dishes, a spectrum of pizzas and a handful of starters and deserts. There's something for everyone on this menu! It launches on 18th June (in three days) across the 201 restaurants in the UK.

Whenever I review a restaurant event, I always check out the price point of the menu to check for affordability. I personally think that Prezzo has an excellent price point for their summer set menu - 2 courses and a drink for £15.95, 3 courses and a drink for £18.80 (drinks from a selection of alcoholic drinks or a soft drink). What's more, Mancunians can take advantage of the Aperitivo Hour offer which allows 25% off a range of drinks every day between 5pm and 7pm (June 18th 2018 - August 31st 2018).
